About Alexis~

Welcome to a podcast that dares to talk about the one thing we all share but rarely discuss: the end.

I’m Alexis Hughes-Bakjian, a Chattanooga-based death doula, grief guide, and unapologetic advocate for living fully and dying well. With a background that blends psychology, storytelling, and years spent walking alongside those facing life’s final transition, I’m here to shine a light on the messy, beautiful, and profoundly human journey of mortality.

This is not your average death chat—no stuffy lectures or sugarcoated clichés. We’ll laugh, cry, and dive into the stories, truths, and taboos that shape how we say goodbye. Because in the end, death isn’t just about loss; it’s about love, legacy, and learning to embrace the moments we have.

Let’s get comfortable with the uncomfortable, together.

Testimonials

  • Alexis was more than just a support system—she was an advocate for my father’s dignity and wishes when he could no longer speak for himself. She worked alongside hospice, helped us understand all available choices, and made sure we honored his values in his final days. I never knew this kind of service existed, but now I can't imagine going through the end-of-life journey without a doula.
Michael T., Son of a Home Funeral Client

  • Thank you, Without Fear for helping me help my sweet Shadow transition. Your guidance suggestions and constant support made letting him go gracefully easier. My sweet red dog is home, his memory framed.
    R.C., Pet Euthanasia Comfort Client

  • When my mother was placed on hospice, we felt lost and overwhelmed. Alexis was an anchor for our family, guiding us through the final days with so much grace and compassion. Because of her, my mother’s passing was peaceful, and we were able to focus on love instead of fear. I cannot express how deeply grateful we are for her presence during such a difficult time.
Emily R., Daughter of a Hospice Patient

  • I had no idea what a death doula was until a friend suggested we reach out to Alexis. From the moment we connected, I knew we were in the hands of someone truly special. She not only provided practical guidance but also held space for our emotions in a way that was deeply healing. She helped my husband write letters to our children, plan his final wishes, and find comfort in the unknown. Even after he passed, she continued to check in, offering grief support and resources. Her work is a gift to this world.
